New Mothers and Postpartum Depression

Becoming a mother comes with many different emotions. It is not unusual for new mothers to feel excited, happy, exhausted, and  stressed. Often, all at the same time!

For new mothers who experience postpartum depression (PPD), the transition to becoming a new mother can be extremely confusing, frightening, and lonely. Some mothers with PPD have difficulty getting the help they need.

In Philadelphia, many organizations are working together to find better ways to support new mothers with PPD. Our goal is to help new mothers, their families and their support systems better understand PPD. With this knowledge, new mothers can quickly get the support they need to manage their PPD so they can enjoy their new baby.
